The play room

She rolled her eyes and did as he conceded to his commands.

" Tell me" she whispered once again.

Near moved closer with a smile and kissed her long and hard.

She squeaked in surprise as he kissed her and closed her eyes softly. Part of her was very angry for she fell for it again. She could not believe he outwitted her . Her face reddened as she figured out another part of her did not mind this . She kissed back softly then pulled back.

" W-well, will you tell me?" she whispered

"Yes. My name...is Nate."Near replied softly.

She let out a little smile and kissed his cheek .

" I like the sound of that .......Nate' she whispered softly and smiled shyly.

Near kissed Angel again. "Yes...and I like you, my Angel."

She blushed and looked down.

'' Nate, why do this and act this way? The chances of that are of 60 percent. You are my rival and ......it makes no sense"

"Oh? Whatever do you mean, Angel? Care to enlighten me?
To me..it makes perfect sense."

She bit her lip thinking and then she raised her head eyes hard.

" Actually , you are right, it makes perfect sense. Weaken your rival to have an advantage over them and succeed. You must be a manipulator, for why else would you kiss me till now? For, you have never talked to me before and now you kiss me with no warning. Its not logical"

"Actually..."Near started as he put down his toy.
"The fact of the matter is, you never approached me or even spoke to me.
However...the fact of the matter is that, we meet at last, Angel....
and there is one thing I simply must tell you. Away from prying eyes."

She looked at him blankly.

" You blame me that I never spoke to you? You isolated yourself from us, and now why do you suddenly kiss me . Is it you just toying?....." she asked .

When she heard his last comment she looked at him and waited for what he wanted to tell her away from prying eyes.

Near brought his lips to A's ear. "I love you, my Angel." He whispered softly.

Her eyes widened at his comment.

" W-what?!" she squeaked .

She did not push him away but froze all the possible scenarios going through her head.


" That's not possible" she whispered " You don't know me......you cant love someone without knowing them " she whispered

"Angel, remember back as far as you can of your time at wammy's.
I was always somewhere nearby you. I was only wondering of your feelings, for I am not a social person."He tilted his head and watched in her eyes.
"Well? How about it? Care to share your feelings, Angel?"

She looked at him and her eyes softened. She felt a pang in her chest and lifted a hand to her chest. She first went to her first defense, she thought logically. She admitted to herself that the chances he was lying were decreasing with that statement. No one would lead on a joke that long. She then wandered over to see her emotions and inwardly sighed. If she went with her emotions she feared they would blind her. She admitted to herself that she liked Nate out of the other boys for he truly was not like them one bit. Mello was annoying and demeaned her, Matt was nonchalant about things and a heavy smoker, but Near was an enigma to her. She loved to ponder about what he did and how he thought.

" Well Nate, I-I must say that I reacted to the kisses , quiet easily really. And that you have intrigued me since I was younger as far back as when I came as a toddler. I-I really like you" she whispered " My pride prevents me from saying much, but you are the only boy that I , enjoy to be around. " she whispered cheeks red and intertwined her fingers with his.

Near smiled slightly then kissed her on the lips once again.
"Then it's settled..."He mumbled.

She kissed back a little lost.

" What is settled?" she asked softly feeling stupid

Near looked at her side ways. "it's settled that we will be partners in the race to be successors of L. We will work hand in hand together for a common goal.
After all, Angel...the ends justify the means. Wouldn't you agree?" Near asked softly.

She smiled and squeezed his hand with hers. She looked up at him eyes bright and leaned to kiss him quickly . She nodded.

" I agree with you, we both have one purpose, and that is to be the best detectives. I shall help you in anyway I can Nate. And if you become the successor, .....then I shall be there to help even then" she replied

Near nodded. "Agreed, Angel. Same to you." He replied before kissing, then twiddling his hair.

She smiled and kissed him back and looked around.


" Is this alliance a secret?" she asked curiously.

Near watched Angel. "Is something the matter?"

She shook her head no.

" Not really, but I was curious if you want this to be a secret alliance, or not?" she blinked a few times. " I- I mean about our deal , and ....what we did" she whispered the last part.

Benjamin walks into the playroom and takes a seat at one of the tables with a deck of cards and plays memory with himself

Z walked into the room after Benjamin did and sat at a different area then him and picked up a toy he found on the floor.
